Red Pill Radio Podcast – Robert Jacobs and Keith Shackleford, Two Citizens on the Pandemic, Politics, and Trump

Listen to “Ep. 4. Robert Jacobs and Keith Shackleford, Two Citizens on the Pandemic, Politics, and Trump” on Spreaker.

In this fourth episode of Red Pill Radio, we have two guests. First, we will hear part one of a two-part interview with my father-in-law Robert Jacobs. Robert is a retired political science professor who taught at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington for thirty-two years. He has insightful thoughts on the powers of the presidency, the U.S. Constitution, and Donald Trump.

The second interview is with Keith Shackleford. Keith and his brother John are two of my closet friends. I met them in January 1996 in Shack’s their father’s barbershop. Keith and John help keep me politically grounded because they have an ear to the community. You can learn a lot in a barbershop or beauty salon. I spoke to Keith about how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting his life and business and his thoughts on the 2020 presidential race.

Before the interviews, I talk about the Vietnam War and the COVID-19 pandemic. April 29th, the number of U.S. deaths to COVID-19 surpassed the number of U.S. service members who died in Vietnam. I make this comparison because many people are using it as a talking point. But the comparison to the COVID virus deaths is inappropriate. More than U.S. service members died in Vietnam. It is important to pay respect to all who died as a result of that war.

How many people died in Vietnam?
Archives.gov: 58,220 U.S. service members
(More after returning home)
Britannica online: Vietnam – as many as 2 million civilians on both sides and some 1.1 million North Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters
South Korea suffered more than 4,000 dead, Thailand about 350, Australia more than 500, and New Zealand some three dozen

I also briefly talk about what I think we need to do to increase resilience during or after an epidemic or pandemic.
